Green Gram dal Idli(Payathamparuppu Idli)

Ingredients:

Green Gram dal (Payathamparuppu)-  1 cup
Black gram dal(Uluthamparuppu)     -  1 cup
Green chillies                                   -  3 - 4 nos
Fresh Coriander                              -  5 table spoons
Asafoitida                                       -  1 tea spoon
Salt to taste

1.  Wash and soak the 2 dals separately  for for 3 - 4 hrs.
2.  Grind both the dals separately to soft paste and then mix them together adding salt and keep it aside covered for 6 - 8 hrs.
3.  It will raise with bubbles.
4.  Mix the batter thoroughly and remove all the bubbles.
5.  Now add the finely chopped fresh corianders, finely chopped green chillies and asafoitida and mix well.
6.  Grease the idli stand and pour the batter in to the stand and cook for 7 - 10 mins.
7.  Poke the cooked idli with a knife, if the knife comes out without any batter on it then the idlis are done.
8.  Wait till the idlis are in room temperature and remove them with the help of a spoon.
9.  Serve with milagaippodi and tomato chutney.
